BREATHTAKING

Oh WOW, words cannot describe what I feel after reading Sarah Elizabeth's new story, Don't Let Me Go. Breathless might express it the best. CL and Lamb have buried down deep in my heart. My eyes are overflowing and my heart feels like it will burst. The emotions are overwhelming. This story is breathtaking, memorable, shocking, sad, hopeful, poetic, tragic, lyrical, stunning, unforgettable, jaw-dropping, and tear-inducing. There aren’t enough words for how this story made me feel. Sarah’s writing touches me down deep. It stays with me, becomes a part of me. It speaks to me in a way that no other author can. It is different, set apart, MORE. She is all heart and overflowing love and it shows in all that she writes. This story, CL and Lamb, will live in my heart forever. I highly recommend Don’t Let Me Go! This is a must read!

Gut wrenching and breathtaking

I read a lot. I have had the pleasure of reading this author's books before. But, it was with this book that I realized something that I already knew about reading. There is a huge difference between a book where you can tell the author has agonized over every single word and a book written for a paycheck.
This is a book where you see the author is an artist. Yes, there is chemistry between Lamb and CL. Yes, the storyline has you cheering for the bad guys. But take a drink from this author's koolaid. You don't only see CL's desire and struggle you get inside his soul and see the world through his eyes.
This book is a journey, not just a read. And at the end I didn't care about the plot, although it gutted me, I cared about the people in it. And that was when I realized the way those characters were written CL and Lamb weren't just characters to me anymore somehow I began thinking of them as real people.
That was when I realized the difference between writing and storytelling.

I loved it.

I want to say I hated it, but I love/hated this pretty hard. I kind of expected my heart to break a little, but I'm hanging in there.
Anyway, Sarah's short but bittersweet tale is worth it. CL and Lamb left me with my jaw hanging open at 'the end', and while I was ready to scream bloody murderous 'no!'s and piss my parents off by ranting about this book, I settled for re-reading the last two chapters instead.
Still... wanted to scream.
I highly recommend this book to Dusty fans and post-read angst-lovers. If that's you, this book is perfection. If that's not, it'll still leave you reeling.
When I see jolly ranchers and snow cones, I'll be thinking of CL and Lamb

Loved this Weston Troubled Brother

Outback Heat Book 3 - Some Guys Need a Lot of Lovin' is the most heart wrenching of this series that I have read by Amy Andrews. In fact, I liked this book the best, and the cover the least. There is such a wonderful story of healing and restoration that the cover does not convey. However, this review is for the marvelous story.

So much has been written concerning PTSD caused by war that it is easy to forget that there are many other tragic causing events. Ms. Andrews has given us a moving account of one firefighter’s fight with this. This is Marcus Weston’s story of dealing with his PTSD. Before this Australian romance story is finished another one of the Weston brothers has fallen. Which in Marcus’ case it is not so easy, since he must come to terms with the sorrow that has been haunting him first.

Juanita Slattery is perfect for him. I liked her as a person and as a doctor. She stayed professional, not mixing her work and personal life. She has a sense of humor as well as a sensitive side, putting Marcus’ well-being before her own. In this case nothing else would have worked for me. As it is written it is a 5 Star compelling read!

A very enjoyable and emotional read !!

Juanita is at a bar full of old people to whom she has just presented her paper on PTSD. She is totally bored when Marcus walks in and things start looking good. They end up spending the night together.

Marcus is a paramedic and is finding it tough to come to terms with the horrific aftermath of terrible fires.
His boss suspends him till he gets medical clearance.
The psychologist he goes to see is none other than Juanita, who is in Jumbuck Spring on a temporary position covering for those on leave.
The chemistry between them was off the charts hot. Having read the other books in this series I enjoyed this one. My heart went to Marcus for what he had to witness.
A very enjoyable and emotional read.

Not Until the Denial Ceases

Juanita Slattery is a psychologist temporarily in Jumpback Springs to counsel PTSD survivors form the horrendous and devastating summer fire. She meets Marcus Weston the night of her birthday and they share a sizzling night together.
Marcus witnessed a horrible scene in the fire and is trying to self-heal from the memory. He is a a paramedic and soon is boss tells him to get the counselling he really needs. Juanita is the counselor he gets, embarrassingly enough for both of them. She refers him to another counselor but they begin a friendship/romance.
The story is a sensitive journey into PTSD and the effects it has on a person in denial.

Grade 7 Up-- A succinct biography of the black novelist whose spirited use of dialect occasioned criticism from other prominent black writers, and who until recently was largely forgotten. Raised in Florida at the turn of the century , Hurston was indefatigable in her pursuit of self-improvement and an outlet for her acknowledged storytelling gift. Although it took many years, she put herself through Howard University, and then went on to Barnard for an advanced degree in anthropology. During these same years, her short stories made her an award-winning contributor to the literature of the Harlem Renaissance, from which she went on to write novels and compile collections of black folklore. Lyons is fond of her subject, and attempts to gild the lily--but Hurston, prickly as a cactus, refuses to gild. Her self-promotion, flamboyance, and inability to maintain stable relationships come through clearly. But so, thanks to the inclusion of generous passages from her various books, does her shining literary gift. While the cover does not grab, a 30-second booktalk using Hurston's traumatic family life or her experience with zombies in Haiti, a telling of one of her folktales, or a quick look at any of the excellent black-and-white photographs that grace the book will catch readers. Even on paper, whether it is in her words or her image, Hurston is a vibrant presence. Young adults who encounter her will come away enriched. About the Author
Charlene (and her husband Steve) LaBelle are lifetime members of the Sierra Nevada Dog Drivers (SNDD). We have been active with sled dogs sports for well over 20 years. We own and breed champion Alaskan Malamutes. Our dogs are run in harness as well as show. They also backpack, weight pull and do a variety of other activities. Charlene spent several years on the SNDD board of directors as the Treasurer. She also had held every job associated with putting on an ISDRA sanctioned race. She worked with local communities to put on successful races. Charlene and her dogs have visited many schools and enjoy doing public education on responsible dog ownership, the Iditarod and sled dog sports. Charlene at the time of this writing is currently in her second term as a Director at Large on the Alaskan Malamute Club of America board of directors. Charlene is the author of A Guide To Backpacking With Your Dog and has written many articles that have been published over the years. She has had articles published in magazines such as Dog Fancy and is frequently quoted in publications. Charlene is a member in good standing in many clubs. Some of which are: the Dog Writers Association of America (DWAA), the AMCA, a lifetime member of the Sierra Nevada Dog Drivers (SNDD), and the Northern California Alaskan Malamute Association (NCAMA of which she held several offices including President). Charlene will be profiled in Hoflin Publication s Alaskan Malamute Annual for 2006.

Really helped us get going with the basics!

I read this book over a few years ago when we got our husky puppy. I picked up the revised edition (2007) when it came out shortly afterwards. The detailed pictures and drawings really helped me work out the basics, such as how to harness your dog and how things look when they are pulling and everything is in it's proper place. This is essential b/c a poorly fitted harness will make things very uncomfortable for your dog and running should always be enjoyable for them! Our husky has enjoyed many years of happy casual pulling thanks to the good info I found in here.

I'm looking forward to trying the leading exercises when I have the space/snow, since he's now old enough to start building up to heavier loads. I will also be using the "dog house" plans to build him a house when we have our own property. My grandpa kept his hunting dogs in plywood houses and they are fantastic! Nice an warm (use straw of course) and easily replaceable when your dog chews on them. The index of companies and organizations in the back was a great help as well! It helped me find a local company to buy our first harness from! I also appreciated the fact that this book had sections for skijoring, carting, and backpacking. There are so many fun things to do with your dog and these were great intro pieces to let you see what else is out there! Naturally if you want to get into any of these you should probably pick up a book specifically on that.

I didn't notice much/any spelling mistakes in my version as one poster complained about. My suggestion would be to sample the book (on googlebooks or something) before buying if you are concerned.

Currently this is my only dog mushing book, but I am also planning to buy Dog Driver here in the near future.

great general knowledge

First off I am new to Sled dogs and sledding, or is it mushing? Whatever. Book does not seem to dote on telling you this is the absolute way to do things. I consider this great as someone just trying to broaden their background. Sure their are opinions there, but overall, chapters seems to just make you more aware of what's out there and how things work. I don't know how far I will take my interest on this activity, but this seems like a great start for me

I like this book because although it is a manual for mushers it weaves the technical aspects with interesting stories and history. It's easy to read and practical. I keep it on my nightstand and periodically refer to it on my path to being a musher. If running sled dog teams is on your "bucket list" you should have this book.

A Little -Known, Outstanding Book for Youth

I purchased several copies of this wonderful book as gifts when it was first published in English. Now one must purchase it from used or rare book sellers, as I just did for my grandchildren. "Tistou of the Green Thumbs" is a charming parable about the insanity of war. It also helps children address the issue of what happens to a person once he or she dies. Tistou is given several explanations to ponder, just as children in our society often hear different versions of the afterlife from adults around them. A teacher in the '70s, I often read this book aloud to students. We had many moving and illuminating discussions about Tistou, his values, beliefs and actions. I must warn anyone preparing to read the book aloud that they may shed a tear or two--and no, I never found this to be a negative for children--quite the contrary.

an excellent resource!

I purchased this book after attending the SPPM ultrasound course. It is an in depth coverage of every single US guided injection you can think of. The directions are excellent, and step-by-step, detailing multiple approaches that you may be interested in learning for ultrasound-guided interventions. I also liked that they cover pathophysiology, indications, risks, and anatomy related to each procedure. The high quality photos are very helpful in also learning diagnostic US. I would recommend this for anyone thinking about learning US, or adding US to the practice. Also, I would highly recommend the course. The SPPM course I attended was my 3rd US course overall. Dr. Waldman has put together a great team of experts that really accelerated my comfort utilizing US for interventional pain management including supra scapular, inter scalene, subacromial, glenohumeral, AC joint, medial/lateral epicondyle, knee, ankle, SI joint, cervical medial branch, and caudal blocks. Overall, this was a great investment and well worth the money.
